Brow Lift – Choose Between the Common Methods
If your goal is to eliminate lines of your face while looking younger, there is a popular surgery available called a brow lift. You should get an idea of how this type of operation works before you commit to it. However, you should first also learn the available types of this operation. There are two main methods, and it is up to you to choose the best one for your situation.
The traditional brow lift involves the surgeon making an incision all the way across the forehead, right along the hair line. Any excess skin is then removed, and the muscles in the area will also be tightened a bit so that sagging and wrinkling is unlikely. Additionally, the skin is lifted higher on the head so that it remains taut and smooth, and thus younger looking. This can prevent wrinkles in any direction from forming. Sutures will be inserted to keep the incision closed while it heals.
A more recent type of brow lift includes an endoscope, which is a tiny camera that enables the doctor to watch the surgery on a monitor in the room. This is helpful because it allows the doctor to make a much smaller incision than in the traditional kind of surgery. Skin is not usually removed with this technique, and the forehead might be lifted up, but only slightly. Thus, there is less chance of scarring, and it is therefore less invasive.
If you are still somewhat young and want to get rid of any current or potential wrinkles, you might be encouraged to go for this kind of operation. The outcome is usually not as extreme as with the traditional procedure, but the scarring and recovery period are also much less, as well. However, if you are older or notice more wrinkles and are able to hide any scarring with your hair, you should usually opt for the typical method since you are more likely to see noticeable results.
Your doctor should help you decide which of the two common brow lift procedures will work best for you. It will likely depend on the severity of your fine lines, your age, and your willingness to endure scarring and possibly long recovery times. Doing some research ahead of time will help you let your doctor know your initial thoughts on each method, helping you both choose what is best for you long before the surgery occurs.

What is a Brow Lift? Cost and Recovery of Brow Lift
As we all age, so does our skin and stretched out skin is inevitable for any mortal person. One of the very first steps after deciding that you would like to undergo a brow lift is to find a certified and experienced plastic surgeon that specializes in brow lifts. From there you can then set up a consultation with the surgeon to discuss further available options regarding your impending lift.
Deep behind and well hidden past the hairline, the surgeon will make a series of incisions from which to perform the forehead lift. After these incisions are made, the surgeon will then use an endoscope to ensure that all the muscle mass and underlying tissue is in good condition and fix or realign any that are not right. From there, the surgeon will then pull the forehead skin tight and begin to close up the incisions. Any extra skin left will then be cut away and you will be sent off to recover from the procedure.
Just like any other surgeries, there are a number of possible risks and complications which can be associated with a forehead lift. Brow Lift Surgery – Get Rid of Wrinkles, Creases and Folds Around the Eyes
When it comes to growing old, one thing that eventually goes is the eye brow region of the face. When this goes, it starts to sag and droop giving a disgruntled look to your face. You have two choices to deal with this, you can either give way to natural progress and “age gracefully” or you can undergo a brow lift procedure. The choice is ultimately up to you.
This procedure will help to minimize the wrinkles, creases and folds that occur along the brow line of the forehead. This also means that it will affect the area between the eyes and at the bridge of the nose. The procedure is considered a remedy to the frown lines which develop between the eyes. Furthermore, as the bro area begins to sag, it will also cover over portions of the upper eye and by undergoing a brow lift procedure; this sagging skin is pulled back up into its rightful place on the forehead.
Before undergoing the procedure you need to make sure that you are healthy, followed by the fact that in general you need to be a non-smoker as well as you need to have a positive outlook of the procedure. Furthermore, above all else you will have to have specific goals which must be realistic with regards to the procedure.
The surgery itself is pretty straight forward. For starters, you will be given an anesthetic which can be either an intravenous sedation or it can be a general anesthetic. This is usually a decision which will be made by the surgeon but you may also be given the opportunity to suggest either one if the surgeon feels you can.
The brow lift procedure is generally performed using an endoscope to allow the surgeon to see while doing the brow lift. The use of an endoscope also means that the incisions will be a lot smaller than in the traditional brow lift as well as a better outcome possibility than standard. Furthermore, when the surgeon uses the endoscope, not only is the recovery process quicker, but it also means that the surgeon can place the incisions along the natural creases of the face so that the scars will be far less visible.

Brow Lift – Forehead Lift Incisions
Approaches to a brow lift
For people who think that their eyebrows are too low, have a heavy look to the eyelids, or want help with wrinkles on the forehead, a brow lift may be the answer. A brow lift has several approaches with the goal to elevate the eyebrows and the soft tissue between the brows and the eyelids. As an added bonus, some of the approaches serve to tighten the forehead skin and smooth out the upper eyebrow wrinkles.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
The endoscopic approach to the brow lift makes incisions just inside of the hairline. Through these incisions the tissues are elevated off of the underlying bone to the level of the bone around the eye socket. Once this is done, the tissues are pulled up and secured. There are variable ways to secure the tissue but most studies indicate that some type of securing is necessary for about a week for the tissues to reattach to the bone. The incisions are hidden in the hairline and as such are not noticeable. This type of approach is good in most patients but can be problematic in those who are bald or who have a high hairline.
Trichophytic brow lift
This is the more classic method for brow lifting. An incision is made along the entire hairline. Through this incision the tissues are again lifted off the bone. Excess skin is removed and the incision is closed. Once healed, the incision is very difficult to see.
Direct brow lift
A direct brow lift is done by excising skin just above the eyebrows to pull them up. This is good in older people who have severe laxity of the brows and who cannot tolerate another approach. There is a visible scar left just above the brow but often this will look like a wrinkle when healed.
Upper blepharoplasty brow lift
For those patients who simply want to put the brow in a new position and are not worried about forehead wrinkles, an upper blepharoplasty brow lift can be performed. Through the same incision that a blepharoplasty is performed, the skin and other tissues are elevated off the bone of the forehead. An absorbable device is then place to hold the brow up until the tissues have healed in the new position. Once healed, the scar is very difficult to see.
