PostHeaderIcon The Forehead Lift and the Different Ways it Can Be Performed

Plastic surgery has become more and more a staple of our culture in the United States. We see it in the celebrities we watch in movies and on TV. We even see TV shows dedicated to plastic surgery, such as Nip/Tuck. The popularity of these cosmetic surgeries has surged into the twenty-first century and at the fore-front of this wave is the ever-popular face or forehead lift.

What many people don’t know about the forehead lift is that there are actually a number of ways that it can be performed. Depending on your preference, you can chose between any of the four to get different results.

The first method is called a pretrichial approach, which is performed by an incision along the hairline at the top of the forehead. The procedure lowers the hairline and is the only of the four methods that does so. This allows the forehead to be shortened and the the eyebrows to be pulled up. The hair will grow through the incision hiding the scar after a few months and an allowing you to see almost no signs of the surgery after about 6 months to a year.

A coronal approach is the second method. With this procedure an incision is made about an inch into the hair. The result is elevation of the brow with an almost invisible scar. Because this procedure elevates the hairline, those with already high hairlines might want to avoid this approach.

For a less dramatic lift, the endoscopic forehead lift can be chosen. This approach is performed by a few very small incisions hidden in the hair. This procedure avoids any large incisions, but is not a significant lift. Expect a small amount of brow elevation. If this result is desired then the endoscopic approach is a good choice.

The fourth approach is a combination of the direct brow lift and the mid-forehead lift, both requiring a incision in the forehead. The purpose is to elevate the eyebrows only and not the entire forehead. The incisions are made in the creases of the forehead and appear to to look like creases again once healed. This approach is performed primarily on men.

Understanding the specifics of each approach is important for those who desire a forehead lift. If you want to get your desired results, you have to know which approach is right for you.
