When the Botox Cosmetic Injection was first discovered not too long ago, it was envisaged that it would only have very limited uses. Botox treatments were first limited to the injection of frown lines, crows feet and forehead lines, and did very well in these fields. Lately, however, it has been discovered that Botox cosmetic injections have more and more uses.

The latest discovery so far has been the use of the Botox Cosmetic injection to get a breast lift. This new treatment option recognizes the fact that with time, the breasts of a woman tend to sag, partly because of age, and also partly because the shoulders tend to rotate inward and forward. The breasts, which rest upon the muscles of the chest wall, specifically the major and minor pectoral muscles, are lowered when these muscles contract, and are raised when the shoulders are thrown backward.

It is theorized that if the minor pectoral muscles were weakened, the opposing muscles which tend to lift the shoulders backward and thus the breasts upward would act more firmly in response, thus raising the height of the breasts, which is an esthetically pleasing effect. Following this theory, some practitioners of the Botox Cosmetic injection have started injecting their patients with some 60 to 90 units of Botox into the minor pectoral muscle where it is inserted into the ribs of the chest wall in front. A substantial proportion of these patients have reportedly noted success in this procedure, as can be proven in before and after photographs, which show the intended result, that is, the shoulders tend to be more thrust backward (and the chest forward), and the breasts at a higher level (about 1cm – 2cm) than they were before injection.

A noted side effect is this: the nipples tend to be more erect for a few weeks after this injection. The reason for this is not well established, but according to a lot of patients, it is also a rather pleasant side effect.

The breast-lifting effect of the Botox cosmetic injection has been shown to last for about 4 months. It is suggested that this procedure is most suitable for physically fit women aged between 30 – 55 years, and with breast cup sizes A or B. Persons with larger droopy breasts may not have such good results. If you fall into the ideal category, it may be a good idea to consult your Botox practitioner if breast enlargement procedures are not yet your goal, and all you need is just a mild lift!

Over the past several decades the advances in non-surgical breast enhancement technology have made this alternative easily comparable to the traditionally more respected forms of surgical enlargement. There are several crucial differences between surgical and non-surgical breast enhancing that lead different women to different alternatives depending on their personal needs. This article will discuss some of the main differences between non-surgical and surgical options as well as a brief discussion of these different methods.

As opposed to non-surgical breast enhancement, surgical procedures will obviously require a consultation with a medical professional as well as an assessment of your current state of health. This professional consultation is not required for no surgery and can be a costly factor associated with surgical procedures. In fact, one of the main differences between surgical and non-surgical breast enlargement is cost. Not only can plastic surgery be very expensive there are also many hidden costs that the consumer is often unaware of at first. For example, continued monitoring of surgical breast implants can be another factor that causes the expense of it to grow drastically. Alternatively, non-surgical breast enhancement options are usually associated with a one time cost. Moreover, the expense for non-surgical enhancing is usually presented up front with no hidden fees or monitoring costs. Many women therefore choose the no surgery option because they know exactly what it will cost and what they should expect from the results.

Another difference between surgical and non-surgical breast enhancement is the potential for complications. In recent years, the stories of complications associated with implants have become common. Women report having leaking implants, that their implants look unnatural, and they may even report serious painful symptoms. In fact, chronic pain is a very serious complication that can be associated with even so-called successful breast implant surgeries. On the other hand, non-surgical enhancing has been associated with far fewer side effects and long term complications. Alternatives tend to be safe and natural meaning that women need to be far less concerned about possible future problems.

Finally, non-surgical breast enhancement is not as permanent as surgical alternatives. Take for example a woman who has decided to try pills for the course of a few weeks. If she notices that she does not like the results she is getting or that the pills are causing unwanted side effects she is free to discontinue taking the pills. Unfortunately, for women who opt for surgery the side effects or problems will be permanent or will require more costly and dangerous surgery to correct the problem. Scarring, misshapen implants, and chronic pain are all usually permanent problems that cannot be easily rectified. Perhaps for this reason more than any non-surgical breast enhancement is superior to surgical alternatives. Indeed, most evidence and customer testimonials show that non-surgical breast enhancing treatments are not only safe but very effective.

When it comes to breast lifts, you can either go under the knife in the form of a breast augmentation, or you can choose a non invasive breast augmentation. This non invasive breast augmentation or a non surgical breast lift as it is some times called. Regardless of what you call it, the surgical breast lift is practically risk free and in some cases it can even be healthy for you. In most forms of non surgical breast lifts, one would use a breast pump which works by placing tension on the breasts in order to stimulate growth in the chest region.

These breast pumps can be both electric as well as manual form, but they all do the same thing which is to help stimulate breast growth. What it does is to pull on the epidermis creating a slight gap which in turn the body tries to fill up this gap in a manner which increases the breast size.

Another form of non surgical breast lift is that which is slightly invasive by the means of using thread and barbed hooks to but the pressure in the skin of the breasts which in turn has the same outcome as a breast pump. The difference with the use of barbed hooks and thread is that the shape and contour of the finished product can be better controlled while at the same time allowing for a little more tissue growth than the use of a pump.

Besides using these types of breast lifts, one may even opt for a natural enhancement. From various herbal remedies which focus on new tissue growth by the means of natural supplements to that of the hormone replacement therapy. In recent studies, it has been shown that an increase of estrogen will stimulate new cell growth where there was none previously. This can also include the increase of cell growth of breast tissue.

No matter which alternative you choose, the outcome is the same. Some people can actually use a non surgical breast lift with great outcomes however some may not be able to see any growth at all. When a natural or non invasive procedure fails to work your only real choice is to undergo a breast augmentation, but it is worth it in some cases to try those that are risk free first then those which have certain risks.

PostHeaderIcon Macrolane Breast Augmentation – Non-Surgical Alternative to Breast Implants

What is Macrolane and has it been used before?

Macrolane Breast Shaping Injections are made from the same substance that your body uses to maintain skin turgor – Hyaluronic Acid, which you may have heard of before. This product has been injected into faces for 10 years as Restylane and Perlane and has now been produced in much purer form with larger particles to allow larger quantities to be injected in to the breast. In fact 9 million doses have been injected into the face with minimal side effects.

How is it different to surgical breast shaping?

Macrolane treatment is performed under local anaesthetic compared to general anaesthetic in surgical procedure. Macrolane has minimal downtime and minimal risk of scarring. Macrolane does not interfere with the results of mammograms which are obstructed by silicone implants. This allows you to have regular checks of your breasts that show all of the tissue. In addition Macrolane injections are designed to give the breast a fullness and subtle reshaping by only one cup size. This is very difficult to do with surgery. Ultimately those breasts that have dropped considerably will need a surgical treatment in order to lift them if that is what the woman desires. Also if a woman wishes to go from an A to a C or a B to a D then Macrolane is not an appropriate treatment for her.

The ultimate success of Macrolane is that a woman can halfway through a procedure check how her breast feels and looks, if she wishes she can easily have more fullness. One cannot do this with surgery.

Do Macrolane injections hurt, and how do they feel?

No, less so than a filling if performed by a skillful operator. The doctor will numb the area with a local anaesthetic before injecting Macrolane. The injected area feels firm for a few days like firm breast tissue as it absorbs water. After a week or two it begins to soften and after a few weeks becomes quite soft and very similar to breast tissue.

How long does Macrolane last?

Macrolane is topped up every year with roughly half the volume that is injected initially. Most people would have 200mls in the first treatment thus have a 100ml top up in 12 months. They would then have a longer period before the next top up, say 14 months and so on.

Is Macrolane safe?

As hyaluronic acid already exists within your body it is not recognized as a foreign substance. Extensive trials over since 2002 have shown no long term issues. Only a handful of doctors have been trained in the UK. Dr Maini at Nottingham Laser Clinic is one of the first UK Drs to be fully trained in the technique.
